Phil Shawe is an American entrepreneur and the co-founder of TransPerfect, a global language and technology solutions provider. He has been recognized as one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the language services industry.
Shawe graduated from New York University's Stern School of Business in 1994, where he earned his degree in international business. Shortly after, he co-founded TransPerfect with co-founder Liz Elting in 1992, which has grown to become one of the largest privately held companies in the world.
Shawe has been recognized for his entrepreneurial skills and leadership, receiving honors such as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year award, the Top 40 Under 40 award from Crain's New York Business, and being inducted into New York University's Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.
In 2018, Shawe was involved in a highly publicized legal dispute with his former business partner Liz Elting over the ownership and control of TransPerfect. The dispute ended with Shawe being granted full ownership of the company and Elting receiving a $385 million settlement.
Despite the legal battle, Shawe has continued to lead and grow TransPerfect, expanding the company's services to include language and technology solutions for industries such as healthcare, legal, finance, and e-commerce.
